Swirl Kendama Trick
Swirl is a popular kendama trick that combines the Ken grip, Airplane and a swinging motion. To perform Swirl, you need to have a basic understanding of the Airplane trick. Here’s a step-by-step guide on swirl.
how to do Swirl:
- Start by holding the kendama in a Ken grip, with the ball hanging loose. Place the string on top of your finger, closer to the ken than in the middle. This will allow the ball and the ken to rotate in opposite directions.
- Swing the Tama once in front of the ken so that the string wraps once around your finger. When the Tama is at 6 o’clock, toss the ken to start the trick.
- Count the rotations of the Tama and make sure it makes three rotations before grabbing it. As you unwrap the ken, be sure to bend your knees to control the trick and ensure a soft landing.
- The ken will naturally unwrap and you should be ready for an Airplane. Bending your knees is crucial as it brings the ken to a complete stop, making it easier to transition into the Airplane.
- If you are having trouble with the full Swirl trick, you can start with a simplified version. Wrap the Tama around once and immediately grab it, then toss the ken. This will give you the motion of the trick and allow you to practice the Airplane at the end.
In conclusion, Swirl is a great kendama trick to add to your repertoire. It may take some time to master, but with practice, you’ll be able to impress your friends and fellow kendama players with your skills.
