Learn How To Spike A Kendama
Hey guys today we are going to explain how to spike kendama. The spike is one of the most fundamental and satisfying tricks in kendama.
It’s basically taking the ball and landing it on the spike of the Kendama. At first, this trick might seem really hard but with a few quick tips. It becomes a breeze.
Best Grip To Learn Spike
The first thing I always do is make sure my grip is correct: we’re going to hold the Ken in Ken grip. If you don’t know about kendama grips check out how to hold a kendama. That’s where you take your fingers and you have hold it right here right up underneath the cups or the sarado, it kind of sounds funny. But if you hold it like a flute, that’s how I hold the kendama. Check Out This amazing picture for a perfect demo.
The next step is taking the ball and making sure it’s completely still and hanging down, and what you want is a straight line with your string. I take my spike to make sure it’s pointing straight up.
The next part is your stance. I usually like to put my right foot forward a little bit and my feet about a shoulder width apart. Next step is the motion. It’s not 100 % in your arm. There’s actually quite a bit of legs involved in this trick, you’re going to bend down using your knees and you’re going to pull the Tama up using your entire body and when the ball floats you’re, going to put the Kin directly underneath the Tama and let the Ball fall on the spike.
Kendama Spike Tips
A quick tip on the top of the Tama is another hole where the string comes out on the other side of the small hole is the big hole so if you keep your eye on this one, you always know where the big hole is on the bottom. A few things not to do is don’t aggressively stab at the ball.
You got to let the ball come to you. Another thing: don’t try and pull the Tama up if it’s wobbling all over the place, make sure to use your other hand to study the ball.
Another a good tip is to start out is resting your thumb along the handle and having the tip of it be touching the bottom of the sarado. In other words align your thumb with the spike of the kendama.
Now you can think of the spike as an extension for your thumb and imaging yourself catching the hole of tama with your thumb. Don’t even look at the spike just focus on the hole in the tama and try to catch it with your thumb. This Tip is a game changer and will get you landing spike in seconds.
So again, spike facing up bend down slowly, coming straight up with everything and then using your hand, you Bring the Ken below the Tama and let the ball fall on the spike.
Thank you guys for reading, hopefully you’re all masters of the spike.
